Casey McCormac
Casey McCormac is 24 years old and was born and raised in Moosomin. She works as the Economic
Development Officer for the Town of Moosomin.
Casey began skating at the age of 3 and ended her competitive career at the age of 17. She was coached
by Tamela Olafson, Patty Hole, Tammy McKay and Tyler Bidnyk. She competed at many competitions
from Juvenile all the way to Junior. In 2011, she won Sectionals (provincials) in Aberdeen. In 2013, she
won a bronze medal for the Southeast at Saskatchewan Winter Games. In 2014, she got the chance to
compete at Challenge (nationals) in Montreal. She competed in Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Alberta, BC,
Ontario, and Quebec.
Skating taught Casey many important life skills and she loves the sport which is why she wants to coach
now. This will be her third year coaching. She believes that every child should learn to skate and wants
to help them learn. Casey is excited to watch the kids improve throughout the season and to show them
how fun skating is.
In her spare time, Casey enjoys hanging out with her friends and her dog, Indie.
Tiana Delalleau
Hey everyone, my name is Tiana Delalleau!
I was born and raised near a small town just down the road called
Carlyle, SK. I am 17 and have been competitively skating for 12 years,
becoming a single gold skater. I was apart of the Skate Saskatchewan
Development team for two years.
Growing up in a rural area definitely shaped me into the person I am
today. Throughout the years I was apart of many different sports such as
volleyball and golf, but I always found my way back to the ice at the rink,
and eventually found my way to the curling rink as well.
Coaching figure skating is more than just a job for me, it's a
passion that ignites my soul. I love the challenge of breaking down
techniques into understandable steps and watching my skaters grow
confidence in the different skill. There's nothing quite like seeing the
spark in their eyes when they land a new jump or master a spin
they've been working on for weeks. Being a part of their journey,
helping them achieve their dreams on the ice, is incredibly rewarding
and makes every early morning and late night worth it!
I have been coaching for a couple years with other clubs as a
Canskate and Starskate coach. This year I am very excited to focus
on Starskate and help everyone achieve their goals.
Prior to gaining my Certification in Canskate and Regional
coaching, I was a Program Assistant for 7 years. I am very excited to
share my love for skating with the younger generations and look
forward to a great year!
Gracy Russell
Gracy Russell is 17 years old and graduating this year from McNaughton High School. She has been a dedicated member of the Moosomin Skating Club for over 10 years, where she has contributed as a skater, program assistant, and now as a coach. Gracy is currently working on her Star 9 Freeskate and continues to compete in both Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Over the years, she has coached in the CanSkate program, and this season marks her first year as a Regional Coach with the club. Gracy is passionate about creating a positive and encouraging environment where skaters can grow both as athletes and as individuals. She enjoys building confidence, teaching new skills, and helping skaters to achieve their goals, while keeping the experience fun and rewarding. As both a skater and a coach, she looks forward to continuing her training, helping the next generation of skaters thrive, and giving back to the club that has supported her own skating career.

OUR PROGRAMS
Below are the programs we offer at our club and a description of each.
CANKSATE
Skating starts here.
Having taught millions the skills needed to achieve their recreational and competitive dreams on the ice, CanSkate is the best learn-to-skate program in Canada. Period.
Designed for beginners of all ages—including children, adults, and athletes with disabilities (AWAD)—CanSkate helps you improve basic skating skills for figure skating, hockey, ringette, or speed skating, while promoting fitness and fun.
We work with a nationally tested curriculum that focuses on balance, control, and agility while empowering skaters to hone essential skills, in a safe and friendly environment.
Countless Canadians, from World and Olympic champions to NHL stars, took their first strides through our program. Offered at clubs and skating schools in communities nationwide and led by NCCP-certified coaches, CanSkate is your pathway to skating success.
CanStar (formerly know as Bridging) is Stage 5 and 6 of the CanSkate program. These stages are the last to complete for CanSkate and are designed to transition your skater into figure skating (Starskate). We have our CanStar as a separate program, so if your skater is entering either Stage 5 or 6 CanSkate, you would instead register for CanStar.
Skaters joining our CanSkate program should have the following equipment:
1. CSA approved helmet:
- The helmet fit should be snug
- Hair should not be in a high ponytail under the helmet… this interferes with fit
- Face mask/cages are optional
- Both the strap and helmet should be adjustable
- Stickers should not be placed on the helmet
2. Proper fitting Figure or Hockey skates. We do not recommend plastic or adjustable skates
3. Proper clothing -layers are best. We do not recommend snowsuits. Consider Long Johns with jogging pants and a light waterproof pant over top and a thermal shirt with a long sleeved t-shirt and sweater for the top. Our rink does get very cold, so most important we want your little skater to stay warm!
4. Gloves or mittens - mandatory
STARSKATE
Led by NCCP-certified Skate Canada coaches, the STAR 1-5 curriculum is Canada’s premier figure skating program. It lays the groundwork for future champions in singles, pairs, ice dance, and synchronized skating by introducing participants to all the figure skating essentials.
We welcome skaters of all ages, including adaptive skaters who have met the required skill development level. All students must have completed CanSkate Stage 6 or an equivalent to enroll.
When you register for Starskate, the registration fees is only your ice time and the mandatory Skate Canada fee. You will be invoiced monthly by your coach/coaches. We encourage open communication between parents and coaches, so feel free to reach out to them with any questions! Contact information will be provided closer to the start of the season once registration is complete.
Figure Skate Sharpening:
Figure skate sharpening requires a skilled professional using specialized equipment, as figure skates have unique hollows and require precise maintenance.
Skates should be sharpened by a recognized figure skate sharpener after every 20-30 hours of use or at least every two months, with a combination sharpening recommended for new skaters. Key factors determining sharpening frequency include skater weight, skating style, and blade quality. Please note, there is currently no place local the can sharpen figure skates.
Here is a current list of figure skate sharpeners:
